Bangkok Cont...

After seeing the Grand Palace and the Reclining Buddha, I went to the Jim Thompson house. I had never heard of him before but loved his story and absolutely love his fabrics...love, love, love!  His house was beautiful. I have never considered myself someone who likes Asian architecture/art but I loved his house. Ditched the tour after 30 minutes due to heat exhaustion...

Emma arrived Friday night!  I had the best steak of my life at El Gaucho (by Terminal 21) that night.

We stayed at the W in Bangkok. The breakfast was great. They even had my green juice!  As well as some "other things."

This was our room...couldn't quite figure out what was with the boxing glove as pillow....

Saturday morning we hit up the markets. I am not a huge shopper and I didn't believe people when they told me that I would shop in Asia.  I was wrong...I LOVED the markets.  In fact, I needed a new suitcase I bought so much stuff!  Meet my new friend, "fruitcase."

Then it was off to the spa. Can you find Emma?

Saturday night we took a tuk tuk to dinner. It was a death trap. Emma enjoyed it. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs. Would have been safer riding an elephant.

Sunday am we played tourist. We went to Wat Arun via private water taxi (aka death trap #2) in dirty Bangkok river water.

Wat Arun

Then we tried to go to another market but it was closed. Planning fail. Must go back to Bangkok soon!

Then we headed to the mall in search of air conditioning and promptly found ourselves at another spa. I tried ear candling which I have wanted to do forever.

I found this picture on the door of a store. Made me think of Maddie. Took the picture then got chased by mall security "no picture no picture."

Bangkok was great. Highlights: wonderful Thai hospitality, great shopping, great prices on everything...downfalls: weird smells, lots of traffic. Will definitely be back. Would next time like to include Phuket.
